Battle of the Badges
The Impact Project is at the center of Chick-fil-A Leader Academy — all lessons and service projects culminate in one BIG student-led, student run project that impacts a community. We talk about Impact Projects early and often because BIG ideas take work, and an inspirational idea can manifest at any point in the program.
For West Nassau High School in Callahan, Florida, the idea came early. Students wanted to bring attention to the needs of Special Olympics athletes in their area. So they planned and hosted Battle of the Badges, a charity basketball game that pit local fire and police against each other. With articles in the local paper, t-shirt sales, tickets, and concessions, students raised over $5,000 — that’s more than the entire county rose the previous year!
